Build Day 175 & 176.....Wiring

Now I know I'm able to run the car, I've started in earnest to install all the wiring properly, splicing and removing redundant circuits as I go.

It's a long process, but I've made a good start. Still lots more to do though.

Unfortunatly, I'm away on business for the next two weeks, so nothing is going to get done for a while :(

Build Days 173 & 174.....SHE RUNS!

Well, Saturday I spent finishing off the temporary wiring. One minor issue was the the original battery from the Rover was dead. Tried to re-charge it over night, but with no luck.
So, today it was a quick trip to Halfords for a new battery, then to the petrol station for some fuel, and this is the result:

As you can see, I'm very happy! I didn't expect it to start with such little drama!
I also tried to move the car under it's own power to test my custom gearbox/clutch set up:

Again, success! The smoke is nothing to worry about, just some oil and stuff on the exhaust manifold. Next steps will be to install the wiring properly, splicing off the bits I don't need.

Build Day 172.....Back On It's Wheels

Today I've sorted out the over long rear wheel studs and as a result, I've put the car back down on it's wheels, I've also given it some fresh oil and a filter.:

I've now started in earnest on the wiring. As you can see from the next pic, there's quite a bit to sort out. This will take some time. A lot of what you see will be redundant, but for now, I'll be plugging everything in temporarily as is to do the first engine start. Later I will cut down what is needed at fit properly:

So far I have fitted the coil pack and ht leads and started on the fitting the engine bay loom.

Build Day 170 & 171.....Getting Closer to Starting Engine

Made some good progress over the weekend. Firstly, I've finished the fuel tank plumbing. I've also replaced the wheel studs on the rear for longer ones as the original ones would not allow enough turns on the wheel nuts to be safe. (Trouble is, now the studs are too long for the nuts, but this is a minor issue).
Also, I've finally fitted my custom handbrake adjuster and got the handbrake all set up. I've also torqued up the propshaft bolts.
Finally, I've filled the engine cooling system with antifreeze. There were a few minor leaks, but pretty much sorted now. If I can get a few hours in the evenings this week, I'm now ready to start temporarily wiring up the engine etc. Very close now to attempting to start the car.
Anyway, not posted pics for a while, so here's the car as it stands now:
