Build Day 83....Engine Mounts #1
Didn't spend much time on the car today, but did manage to continue a bit with the engine mounts. So far so good, but I snapped two drill bits in the space of an hour :(

Build Day 81.....Engine and Gearbox in
As planned, I've put the engine and gearbox into the car to allow me to design and fabricate the engine and gearbox mountings. Very pleased that the engine went in without issue and fitted fine.
Started on the gearbox mount design. Coming along nicely. Should have more time tommorow to spend on it than I had today.

Build Day 80.....Gearbox Adapter Plates#2
I've now completed (with a few minor tweaks) the gearbox adapter plate prototypes:
I then cut off the original tube sheathing the gearbox input shaft over which the clutch release bearing would sit:
Then, I was able to attach the bell housing to check everything fits:
You can see below that the input shaft now comes through release bearing tube of the bell housing. Quite a tight fit, but bang in line:
Finally, I couldn’t resist offering the box up to the engine to see what it looks like:
I'm now ready to drop the engine and box temporarily into the chassis to start designing and fabricating the engine mounts.

Build Day 78.....More Chassis Work
Completed the work on the rear shock mounts and welded them into place. Also finished the welding on the bracing at the front and cut a section out of one of the bottom rails of the chassis to allow for the gearbox.
Have also been doing other bits and bobs to the chassis, re-welding a few bits and tidying up others.
Here's the chassis as it looks now - almost there:
I took delivery of the seats for the car the other day, so today I also started looking into the Rover seat runners. I've removed them from the old Rover seats and will have to strip them down further and modify a bit to fit the new seats.
