Build Day 21.....Bit of a Cock-up

Looks like I've messed up the front assembly. Welded it all up only to find it's slightly twisted. Not sure why, either the heat of the welding or a problem with the jig. I will have to grind off one of the welds and reset. Anyway, this will have to wait. Don't think I'm going to get much or any work done on the car for a while as the next few weeks are going to be very busy as I'm starting a new job.

Build Day 20.....3D

The chassis is coming along nicely. It's now in 3 dimensions having now put the main upright bars in place. Also build a separate jig for the complex assembly at the front of the chassis and started cutting metal for it. This is proving to be difficult as the metal has to be cut at angles in multiple planes. Getting there though. Hope to finish that part tomorrow. Will post some pics when it's done.

Build Day 19.....Some Progress At Last

Well, after weeks of pulling apart old cars and removing rust, today was the first day when I actually built something. At last the car actually exists. I have completed the bottom of the chassis. It doesn't look like much at the moment and is only tack welded, but it is (as far as I can tell) all straight and true:

Build Day 18.....Doing a Jig

Not managed much in the garage today, but added wooden blocks to the chipboard to form a jig for the chassis. Hopefully tomorrow I will start cutting and welding metal.

Build Day 17.....Disappointing Progress

Didn't get half done of what I wanted to do today. Started marking out the chipboard with the plan of the bottom of the chassis. Slow careful work as it has to be very accurate. Had to stop though towards mid day as it was getting as hot as a furnace in the garage. The big double door is in the sun most of the day and acts like a big radiator. Great in the winter, but on a very hot day like today it was unbearable.

Managed to get back in in the evening and finished the marking out, but still no actual 'building' has taken place.

Will have to wait till Monday now as I'm out all day tomorrow.
